Sleeping in a healthy way

How much sleep does a person need?Every third person in the US gets not more (if not less) than six hours of sleep during the night. A couple of decades ago, a person would go to sleep at about 9 PM and sleep well until having to get up and go to work in the morning. How many of your family members, friends or colleagues go to sleep at 9 PM these days? Late night shows, video games, movies, the Internet – it all makes us stay awake a lot longer than our grandparents did but there are still 24 hours left to deal with. So it's no surprise that some people even think that they don't have the time to sleep at all. So what is the amount of sleep a person needs? There isn't a direct answer to that question as different people may have different needs in sleep and different lifestyles and activity levels require different amounts of rest for the body and mind to be refreshed. But the sad part of it is that we are sleeping less and less with every year compared to the amount our parents and grandparents spent in bed only decades ago.Optimal sleepScientists who research the questions of sleep state that an "optimal" sleep for a person is the amount of time needed to feel refreshed and active throughout the entire day after the sleep. For some people six hours are enough, others require as much as nine hours spent in bed to make them feel fresh. This amount is influenced by our genetics in a great extent. Several genes in our DNA are responsible for triggering sleep/wake modes of our body that make us feel drowsy when the time is right and wake us up when needed. These are the so called circadian rhythms, and if a person manages to stay by them in his or her daily schedule it's an effective way of getting just the right amount of sleep. After all, it's not the time in bed that counts, it's the feeling for freshness and readiness throughout the day that really matters.Healthy lifestyleYour lifestyle strongly affects the quality of your sleep, so if you are following a healthy way of living your life then you are less likely to experience sleep problems that need you to buy Ambien. One great way of having a healthy sleeping schedule is exercising. Researches show that having intense physical activity for 40 minutes three times a week acts positively on the quality of sleep. But don't just start of lifting weight or running for miles suddenly as it can put your body under stress, and stress is one of the main things causing sleep disorders. Fighting stress is another good way you can get good sleep, so yoga, relaxation, aromatherapy, massage and warm baths will be your best friends for sure. Of course, if you have serious sleep disorders that don't seem to wear off with simple lifestyle changes, it is probably that you need the help of a specialist and might want to consider drugs like Ambien to help you get the sleep you need. After all, you really need that good night's sleep so any measures will do.
